Who is Dar Cutrona?

I am the youngest of five daughters who grew up on a farm outside Fort Wayne, Indiana. I have been married to my husband, Jim, for almost 27 years, and we are the parents of two sons, Vince and Louis. Though I am firmly grounded in northern Indiana, I like to wander away regularly to visit family and friends.

What do you do at AgencyND? What’s so cool about that?

I proofread content for print and web projects. I read for accuracy and consistency in an attempt to make every project as perfect as possible within a set deadline. Spelling, grammar, and style certainly will not be made into a reality TV show any time soon, but it is very cool to see a project come together after a team of professionals is let loose to create and craft something.

What do you do in your down time?

I get my younger son to his activities, many times now with him behind the wheel. I visit my older son at college.  I take my beagle for walks in the woods. When I make the time, I run. Since I work half-days, I am stingy with my free time in order to keep my men well fed and our home livable.

What did you dream you would do when you were a kid?

I wanted to be a nurse, but changed my mind in high school after taking biology and gagging on the smell of specimens split open for dissection. It wasn’t the blood that got to me, it was the smells.

How did it come about that you work at Notre Dame?

Many years ago I worked as a full-time copy editor in the Publications and Graphic Services Office.  After my first son was born, I took a long recess from full-time work to stay home to be a mom and manage our home. I did some teaching and freelance editing on the side, mostly as a way to meet some terrific people. Then, in the spring of 2010, I met Cynthia Maciejczyk who was looking for a part-time proofreader. And, today, here I am!
